Courtyard and Arena Club both sell digital packs that reveal one vaulted, graded card. The main difference: Courtyard gives you third-party graded slabs, instant buyback and a fee-free marketplace, but pays out in USDC and does not publish odds. Arena Club publishes hit rates for every pack and pays out to your bank, but grades cards in house and makes you wait to sell back.
Which has the better buyback?
The headline rates are in the side-by-side table above. Beyond the rate, the sites differ on timing, pricing and protection:
- Timing: Courtyard’s offer is instant after the reveal. Arena Club’s opens after a waiting period.
- Valuation: Courtyard prices cards with Card Ladder sales data. Arena Club uses its own estimate, which RipRanks warns can run above eBay comps.
- Protection: Arena Club sells an optional Slab Safe add-on, at a 10% premium, that guarantees a buyback of at least 80% of your purchase price. Courtyard’s terms call its buyback a best-effort offer that is limited in duration.
Our buyback rates comparison explains how to judge an offer against recent sales.
Which is more open about odds?
Arena Club. Every Slab Pack has a published checklist with per-card hit rates, plus a live Hit Feed of the top cards left. Courtyard’s terms do not disclose per-card odds. Neither site uses a provably fair scheme; our guide to provably fair rips explains what that would add.
How do the slabs and vaults differ?
Courtyard packs contain PSA, CGC or BGS slabs, stored at Brink’s and tokenized on Polygon. Arena Club grades cards in house as AC slabs and keeps them in its own vault, with no blockchain involved. AC slabs may not carry PSA-level premiums outside Arena Club’s marketplace, so they suit you best if you plan to sell back or trade there.
What does each cost beyond the pack?
| Cost | Courtyard | Arena Club |
|---|---|---|
| Paying by card | Small fee | Not published in our sources |
| Buyback | Share of fair market value | Estimated value less a 10% fee |
| Marketplace | 0% buyer and seller fees | Not published in our sources |
| Vault storage | Free, insured | Free, insured |
| Shipping | FedEx at cost, shown before checkout | Per-card retrieval fee plus shipping |
| Cash-out | USDC, no fee listed for digital transfers | Bank transfer via Stripe Connect |
Which is better for sports or Pokémon?
For sports, Arena Club covers more: baseball, basketball, football and soccer, against baseball, basketball and football at Courtyard. Both sell Pokémon. Arena Club adds One Piece, while Courtyard adds comics, luxury watches and rare coins. See our best sports rip sites ranking for the wider field.
Which should you choose?
- Pick Courtyard if you want instant buyback, third-party graded slabs and a fee-free marketplace.
- Pick Arena Club if you want to see a pack’s hit rates before you buy, or want a buyback floor through Slab Safe.
- Pick Arena Club if you want to avoid crypto: it pays out to your bank, while Courtyard pays out in USDC.
Pack opening involves chance at both sites, so set a budget before you start.
